Lady Dogs beat Danbury, advance to regional semi-finals

The Thorndale Lady Dogs softball team traveled to Columbus High School to take on the Danbury Lady Panthers in the area round of the playoffs. Thorndale swept Danbury 2-0 to advance. Game 1 took place on Thursday May 1, and Thorndale was victorious, shutting out Danbury 3-0. The game was a scoreless pitchers duel until the Lady Dogs scored a run in the fourth inning to take the lead 1-0. Thorndale had loaded the bases with walks from Aiyanna Stevenson and Karis Ginn and a double by Karley Breithaupt, when Malayya Dodson hit a fielder’s choice RBI groundout to put the Lady Dogs ahead on the scoreboard.

The Cameron Lady Yoe golf team competed in the state meet at Jimmy Clay Golf Course in Austin. Here are the results: Reagan Akin: 102 points in round 1 and 100 in round 2 for a total of 202; Kenley Harris: 105 points in round 1 and 107 in round 2 for a total of 212; Ava Magre: 101 points in round 1 and 107 in round 2 for a total of 208; Kenan Mingus: 91 points in round 1 and 86 in round 2 for a total of 177. The whole team combined for a total 799 points which helped them finish 10th.

Milano defeats Evadale and advances in playoffs

The Milano Eagles baseball team traveled to West Fork High School in Kingwood for the bi-distrct round of the playoffs. They took on the Evadale Rebels in a one game series and were victorious, winning 3-1 to advance. The game started as a pitchers duel when the Eagles scored first in the third inning with two runs to lead 2-0. The runs were scored when Jesus Reyes led off with a single and found his way home to score on an RBI single down the right field line by Andres Ruelas. That was soon followed with an RBI ground out by Kellson Miller, bringing in another run.

Lady Eagles advance to regional semis

The Milano Lady Eagles softball team traveled to Lago Vista High School to take on the Junction Lady Eagles in the area round of the playoffs. They played a one game series on Saturday May 3 and were victorious, shutting out Junction 5-0. Milano started fast with a run in the first inning when Malina Gordon walked and came home to score after a throwing error by Junction. Milano increased their lead to 2-0 with a run in the third inning as they took advantage of another Junction error.
