I grew up on a little ranch west of here, in Erath County, where I learned firsthand the way of the cowboy. Becoming a cowboy poet came later and was a good bit harder. In fact, Ranger Doug with the “Riders in the Sky” always would say, “It ain’t the easy way, but it’s the cowboy way!” Or should that be “the cowboy poet way!”
Some may be asking, “what is Community Service?” Community Service, as part of many probation sentences, is where probationers work on projects for the county and around the county helping to complete various jobs and meet community needs. Helping entities that are often unable to afford help. Not every organization qualifies, but most non-profits, school districts, and government offices to name a few can request and get help from our Milam County Community Service office.
Thorndale Independent School District is currently accepting applications for substitute teachers to join its team for the 2025–2026 school year. The district is looking for individuals who are passionate about education and ready to make a meaningful impact in the classroom.
