Seed Library Celebrates First Anniversary at Cameron Public Library

The Cameron Public Library is celebrating a milestone this month as its Seed Library marks one year of helping the community grow—literally. Launched in collaboration with the Little River Basin Master Gardeners and the Camino Real Master Naturalists, the Seed Library has distributed 263 free seed packets to the community over the past year. The program was created to encourage home gardening, support local food production, and promote environmental stewardship throughout Milam County.

The Man Who Lived Larger Than Life

Last Summer, Christin and I took a trip to Lafayette with our good friends Joe and Linda. I still remember the first time I met Linda, almost a decade back. She was heading to Austin from her home in Louisiana and, as many folks do, stopped in to see what we were about. After looking around, she found some Tabasco Garlic Sauce. Ecstatic to find this variety in Texas, she was hooked. It was predominantly sold only in Tabasco’s domain, outside Lafayette. On our trip last year, Linda personally took us on a tour of that very factory. Highly recommend, by the way; just an incredible family history, legacy, and billiondollar empire on Avery Island. It’s about as close to a sovereign nation on U.S. soil as you’ll find anywhere, and it’s open to the public.
