September is Library Card Sign-up Month

September is Library Card Sign-up Month; a national observance held annually since 1987. It was established by the American Library Association (ALA) to encourage people of all ages to sign up for a library card and explore the many resources available at their local libraries. Here at the Cameron Library your card gives you access to over 22,000 books in our physical library. Your card also gives you access to an additional 20,000 e-books and audiobooks through our Boundless app as well as various online databases for online learning. Our library also offers a weekly Storytime for families of preschoolers as well as our Hooks & Needles programs for needle crafting adults. In addition to these programs, we recently started a Seed Library for members of the community to have access to seeds and information on how to landscape and grow their own gardens. We hope that anyone who does not already have a library card visits us this month to sign up for one. It is an easy process that only takes a few minutes. To apply for a card, you need to be a Milam County Resident with a Texas State issued ID that shows a Milam County residence and a second form confirming the address such as a utility bill, bank statement or mail. Once your card is activated you will be able to access all the above-mentioned services.
