For more than 130 years, the Cameron Volunteer Fire Department has been a steady presence in times of crisis, protecting neighbors and preserving the community. What began in 1890 with bucket brigades and then horse-drawn wagons has grown into a modern department serving 336 square miles of Milam County.

Students were all smiles as they returned to campus for the first day of school last week. Classrooms were filled with excitement as students reunited with friends, met their teachers, and settled into a new school year.
