Thorndale City Council met Wednesday, Aug. 13, and approved a series of measures affecting utilities, employees and the city’s upcoming fiscal year, while also making a key administrative hire. Council members approved a resolution to join the Steering Committee of Cities served by ONCOR and awarded a new garbage and recycling services contract to Waste Connections. The interim city administrator was also authorized to solicit bids for bleacher covers over the city’s ball fields.

For an initiative that began last August, the Alumni Spotlight—introduced in the first edition of the TISD State of the District Magazine—the district has hit the ground running, offering an alumni spotlight each month over the last year.

Milam County residents are invited to the 2nd Annual Taste of Milam on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Kiesling Ranch, 2732 CR 430, Thorndale. Tickets are $35 per person.
