Lady Yoe top Franklin 13-3

Kenzie Wimmer came to the ballpark and meant business on Tuesday, driving in five on two hits to lead the Lady Yoe past Franklin 13-3 on Tuesday. The Lady Yoe got on the board in the first inning. Wimmer tripled scoring one run then in the bottom of the first inning, Franklin tied things up at two. The Lady Yoe pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning. In the second, Yareli Contreras grounded out, scoring one run, Kenzie Lara singled, scoring one run, and Kenzie Wimmer double scoring three runs. Cheyenne Spillers was the winning pitcher for the Lady Yoe. She surrendered three runs on eight hits over three and a third innings, striking out three and walking one before she was injured on a line drive. Madison Brunson came in as relief throwing two and a third innings not allowing a run on one hit, striking out one and walking two. The Lady Yoe tallied two home runs on the day. Contreras went for the long ball in the third inning. Carley Tucker had a dinger in the sixth inning. The Lady Yoe had 13 hits in the game. Kenzie Wimmer, Tucker, Ty’Esha Miller, and Mia Wimmer each had multiple hits tonight. The Lady Yoe were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error in the ball game. They improve to 1-1 in district play and are back in action Friday at home against Rogers. Junior Varsity at 5 p.m. and Varsity at 7 p.m. The girls finished sixth out of 26 teams in the Franklin Tournament over the weekend. The beat Riesel 15-0, Bremond 7-1, Somerville 18-2, and Whitney 4-3. The lost to Mildred 5-6 and White Oak 0-5.
