Lady Yoe drop district opener to Rockdale, 11-8

The Lady Yoe lost the lead late in an 11-8 defeat to Rockdale on Tuesday. Rockdale was down 7-6 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Jineuhez homered, scoring four runs. Kenzie Wimmer drove in four runners in the loss. Lady Yoe got things started in the first inning when Mia Wimmer drew a walk, scoring one run. Cheyenne Spillers led things off in the circle for the Lady Yoe. She lasted four innings, allowing five hits and nine runs while striking out two. Madison Brunson threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. The Lady Yoe hit three home runs on the day. Kenzie Wimmer had a four-bagger in the third and fifth innings. Amelia Wimmer went yard in the third inning. The Lady Yoe will be back in action Thursday in the Franklin tournament at The Ranch Complex. The Lady Yoe will play today at 4 p.m. and Friday at 9 a.m. and 10:45.

Burton Tournament

The Lady Yoe split games on the first day of the Burton Tournament winning against Burton 21-2 and ending in a tie with Thrall 6-6 on Thursday, Feb. 21. The Lady Yoe gave up a six run lead in the bottom of the fifth to end the game with Thrall in a tie due to time limit. Thrall tied the game on an error in the fifth inning. The Lady Yoe racked up seven hits. Emily Torres and Brittany Hatter all had multiple hits for the Lady Yoe. Cheyenne Spillers got the start for the Lady Yoe allowing six runs on eight hits, also striking out eight with no walks. The Lady Yoe took care of Burton 21-2. Amelia Wimmer was clutch at the plate with runners on base driving in six on two hits to lead Lady Yoe past Burton 21-2 on Thursday. Wimmer drove in runs on a double in the second and a double in the third. The Lady Yoe got things moving in the first inning when Brittany Hatter singled scoring Ashlee Balch. The Lady Yoe tallied six runs in the second inning. The offensive firepower by Lady was led by Ashlee Balch, Carley Tucker, Mia Wimmer, and Kenzie Wimmer, all knocking in runs in the inning. Madison Brunson led things off in the circle for the Lady Yoe where she went two innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out six and walking one. The Lady Yoe launched one home run on the day when Kenzie Wimmer went deep in the second inning. The Lady Yoe racked up 13 hits on the day. Hatter, Emily Torres, Mia Wimmer, Kenzie Wimmer, and Brunson each had multiple hits. The second day of tournament play was cancelled on Friday due to the weather.

Rosebud-Lott

The Lady Yoe defeated Rosebud-Lott 11-0 on Wednesday, Feb. 20, as Madison Brunson and Miranda Wimmer combined to complete the shut out. The Lady Yoe secured the victory thanks to six runs in the fourth inning. Lady Yoe put the pressure on, lead by a single by Yareli Contreras, an error on a ball put in play by Carley Tucker, and a double by Ashlee Balch. The Lady Yoe opened up scoring in the first inning, when Mia Wimmer singled and drove in a run. Brunson started in the circle for the Lady Yoe. She lasted four innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out five. Balch went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Lady Yoe in hits. The Lady Yoe tore up the base paths with six stolen bases on the night.
