The Milam County Grand Jury met on June 12, 2025, and returned True Bills for all 29 cases presented, issuing no “No Bills” during the session. The indictments cover a wide range of felony charges, including murder, sexual offenses, aggravated assault, drug possession, and bail jumping.
In response to the devastating flooding that recently swept through the Texas Hill Country, members of the Yoe FFA chapter are stepping up to help affected communities by organizing a Flood Relief Gift Card Drive. The group is asking for donations of gift cards to be sent directly to families and individuals impacted by the disaster.
Gause Independent School District announced it will participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2025–2026 school year.
Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District is offering free well water testing for private well owners in Burleson and Milam Counties. Sample kits are available now through July 17, Mondays through Thursdays from during business hours at the Post Oak Savannah GCD Office in Milano, the Milam County AgriLife Extension Office in Cameron, and the Burleson County AgriLife Extension Office in Caldwell. Test results will be shared at a Lunch & Learn on Tuesday, July 29, at the Burleson County Expo Center, featuring the Texas Well Owner Network’s Well Informed program. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., with the program running from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
