Milam County Burn Ban Update and Clarification

As many of you know, Milam County has been under a Burn Ban since February 5, 2026. A burn ban is never put in place lightly. Before taking action, the Commissioners Court consults with the Milam County Fire Marshal, who in turn consults with the Milam County Fire Chiefs, the Texas A&M Forest Service, and the County’s Emergency Management Coordinator. In this case, the overwhelming majority of those professionals recommended that a burn ban be implemented due to current fire conditions.
