Storm storms across Central Texas, as well as several regions of the state, are expected to extend into the week. On April 10, Gov. Greg Abbott directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to activate state emergency response resources in anticipation of severe weather expected to impact multiple regions of Texas.
This week, as we do every year during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we pause to recognize a group of professionals who are often unseen, but never unimportant. They are the calm voice in chaos, the steady hand behind the scenes, and the critical link between a crisis and the help that is on the way. They are our dispatchers, they are the first, first responders.
A Texas Watershed Steward workshop on Big Elm Creek and other nearby watersheds, including Deer Creek, Pond Creek, Middle Yegua Creek,and Brushy Creek, will be held on Oct. 20 in Cameron.
Good week for good weather. Sometimes this Texas weather can be great, but with this rain, how those weeds grow. Like I have to say so often, no news is good news. At least there are no deaths this week that I know of. That’s always good news.
