Replacing Property Taxes
Property Taxes are the bane of every landowner in the state; you, me, and every other person living in Texas. But the question comes down to, what do we use to replace property taxes? Because in the end, we are still going to have to pay for the public services we need to survive. Whether it’s law enforcement, Fire, EMS, Courts, schools, or the other services required to conduct business, they all require capital of some sort to stay in business and serve the public. What’s been talked about to date includes Value Added Taxes, Increased Sales Taxes, User Fees & Service Charges, Health-Based taxes, or possibly a state income tax.

Friday evening, September 3, the six o’clock news reported more volunteers were needed at the Astrodome; I clicked the remote, threw some things together, and drove the hour from my house to the dome – as I would do that night and the following two.
Welcome Fall with New Reads
Fall has arrived, well at least according to the calendar if not with cooler weather. This is my favorite time of the year because the days start getting a little cooler and its football and pumpkin spice everything season! Pumpkins are everywhere, the leaves start to turn colors and the days get shorter. Long gone are the days of grilling because it’s too hot to heat up the kitchen and it becomes time to start fixing some comfort food for dinner. It’s also a great time to find some new favorite soups, stews and bread recipes. To help you get started we have added a wide range of new cookbooks to our collection whether you are a 30minute meal kind of person, or you like to spend a little more time in the kitchen or have decided to start your sourdough journey we have a new cookbook for you to check out.
