Lady Eagles defeat Hearne

The Milano Lady Eagles (10-11, 4-1) started up District 25-2A play again on Tuesday night when they hosted Hearne at Geneva Paceley Gym. The Lady Eagles came from behind to defeat Hearne 51-48. Milano led 11-5 after the first quarter, but trailed slightly 20-19 at halftime. Milano outscored Hearne 32-28 in the final two quarters to take the win. Hannah Batten scored a career high 20 points on the night for Milano, the highest for both squads. Faith Walton and Kristian Taylor also scored in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Sterling Robertson recorded eight points on the night and McKenna Robertson added two points. The Lady Eagles defeated Bartlett 44-38 on Friday in a non-district contest during the Christmas break. Milano put up 14 points in the final quarter to stop a Lassies’ comeback attempt. Sterling Robertson and Batten scored 13 and 11 points, respectively, to lead the Lady Eagles. Abby Miller added seven points and Taylor four. McKenna Robertson recorded four points, with Bethanie Compton scoring three and Sage LoBue contributing two. Milano fell 53-42 to North Zulch in another non-league game on Jan. 2 at Geneva Paceley Gym. Sterling Robertson led Lady Eagle scorers with 14 points. Batten added eight. McKenna Robertson and Taylor put up five points each, with Miller and LoBue scoring four apiece. Walton also scored two points. Milano will hit the road this week for district action. The Lady Eagles are scheduled to play at No. 15 Thorndale on Friday and at Thrall on Tuesday to start the second half of league play.
