HELEN CATHERINE KENNEY HUFFMAN
On Saturday, May 24, 2025, God welcomed Helen Catherine Kenney Huffman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother into heaven. In her final months, Helen had the blessing of celebrating her 65th wedding anniversary with her husband, Bill Huffman, and spending time with her four children, each of who were able to share hugs, express our love, and say goodbye.
Her passing, at home in Fredericksburg , Texas, was peaceful: a lasting kiss, holding Dad’s hand, and sharing a final “I love you.”
Mom was dad’s First Rose of Spring, a loving and devoted wife, a protective and nurturing mother, a loyal friend, a truth speaker, and a shining example of character and commitment. She spent her career serving students and athletes with unwavering dedication, first as a teacher, awardwinning coach, and molder of student-athletes in the Cameron, Texas, Yoeman School District, and later as a high school counselor in Fredericksburg, Texas. Her passion for students, her colleagues, and the world of education was unmatched. She is now a warrior in heaven, protecting, guiding, and encouraging us all.
Helen was born November 25, 1939 in Summit, New Jersey. She is survived by her husband, William Huffman (Bill), four children: one daughter Cathy Huffman Rufenacht (John); three sons William, Nelson and Mark; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
We are especially grateful to those who cared for her in her final weeks, particularly the Hospice Team, and to Cathy Huffman Rufenacht and Mark Huffman, who devoted themselves to supporting Mom and Dad over the past two months.
Per her wishes, no formal services will be held, Mom suggested that everyone bring their best game to heaven’s center court.
