Thorndale ISD Teachers Receive 12 Grants From TREE
Teachers across Thorndale ISD were awarded 12 classroom innovation grants through TREE, a local organization dedicated to supporting education in the community.
The grants were presented during a celebration marked by excitement from both teachers and students.
Organizers expressed appreciation to donors who made the awards possible, including 76 Cattle, Floyd’s Glass, RIOT and Patin Construction. Their contributions help bring new resources and creative learning opportunities into classrooms across the district.
“We can’t wait to see the impact these grants will have,” district leadership said.
Grant recipients and their projects include: Jami Becker, Pre-K — “Lights, Learn, and Explore” Laura Butts, Pre-K — “Classrooms Alive” Cristina Steffek, Hollye Schroeder, Kelsey Thurman and Angela McAnulty, first grade — “Math Stackers” Cindy Widner and Emily Niemtschk, second grade — “Growing Readers Through Science” Kayla Kleypas, third grade — “Seats with Purpose: Flexible Seating for Growing Minds” Kaysie Vance, fourth grade — “Beyond the Classroom Walls (VR)” Abby Jones and Angela McAnulty, TES Student Council — “Book Vending Machine” Justin Smith, TES physical education — “Elementary Hoops Initiative” Stacy Leschber, TMS special education — “Read Live Licenses” Tayleigh Wardlaw, THS art — “Photography Cameras” Caitlin Fisher and Bonnie Lindig, THS science/agriculture — “Aquatic Feature” Deby Leschber, Brandon Reynolds, Kristen Chapman, Bonnie Lindig and Markell Irvin, all campuses — “Huddle-Box: Mobile STEM and Innovation Lab” The grants are expected to support a range of initiatives, from early childhood engagement and literacy development to science, technology and career- focused learning experiences.
