Funeral services for Tonia Gail Thompson, 70, of Thorndale, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Public visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 19, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey.

Tonia Gail (Podrbik) Thompson passed away peacefully from natural causes at her home in Thorndale, Texas, on Feb. 13, 2026.

Tonia was born on Aug. 29, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Tony and Patsy Podrbik.

She graduated from Lincoln-West High School in 1973 and began her professional career at the Cleveland Clinic, where she worked for several years. She later relocated to Houston, Texas, where she met Lynn Thompson, the love of her life. Tonia and Lynn were married on Jan. 15, 1986, in Houston, Texas, and shared many devoted years together.

Though Tonia worked a plethora of jobs outside the home, her greatest pride and deepest joy was her role as mother and caregiver. She was the heart of her home, providing unwavering love, stability, and support while raising three active children alongside her husband, a journeyman electrician.

Tonia was known for her exceptional cooking and baking. Her biscuits and gravy and smothered steak became cherished favorites among her children and their friends, while her grandchildren most fondly remember her homemade spaghetti. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, comfort, and togetherness.

Family meant everything to Tonia. During her mother’s illness, she traveled frequently to Ohio to provide care and comfort in her final days—a reflection of her selfless and nurturing spirit. In later years, she embraced her role as “Mamaw,” creating treasured memories with her grandchildren, who loved staying with her and sharing countless bowls of popcorn.

Tonia was blessed with and dearly loved by her large and close-knit family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Patsy Podrbik, and her mother-in-law Gladys Thompson. Tonia was survived by her husband Lynn; as well as her three children: Eric and his wife, Jessica, and their child Chase; David and his wife, Jocelyn, and their children Kobe and Elise; Brittany and her husband, Tim, and their children Madelynn and Ripken. Tonia is also survived by her siblings Jeff, Scott (Marlene), Shari (Brian), and Lisa (Scott); as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Tonia will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her generous heart, and the love she so freely gave to those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
