Following High school Charlie served in the United States Army with the Military Police. After the military he played backup for several Austin area bands on both guitar and violin. He opened Austin Violins and offered his Master Luthier services to Central Texas, specializing in string instrument repair which he continued his trade until his health worsened. He is survived by siblings Pat McDavid (Wanda), Ron McDavid (Barbara) and Rebecca Yawn (Mike) and many nephews and nieces.

The family would like to thank the Staff at Rockdale Nursing home for their many years of great care for Charlie and to the Nurses and staff of Comfort Care at Baylor Scott and White Temple
