MERLE DAWN SHUFFIELD

Merle Dawn Shuffield, 87, of Cameron died Friday, May 2, 2025 in a Cameron nursing and rehab facility. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Shuffield was born August 14, 1937 in Gause to Gene & Lois (Roper) Rose. She graduated from Milano High School at the age of 16 in 1954 and graduated from business college. In 1956 she married Charles C. Shuffield and he preceded her in death. She worked as a clerk and bookkeeper in several businesses. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Furmon “Beaver” Shuffield, a great great granddaughter, Callie Stanislaw, and 3 brothers, Eugene “Bubba” Rose, Preston Rose and Larry Rose. She is survived by: Daughters: Eugenia “Jeanie” Hood (Mickey Carter), Anita Mathews, Charla Deboard (Kenny); Grandchildren: Trey Stanislaw, Clay Stanislaw, Eric Mortimer, Jana Miller, Kelly Deboard, Kevin Deboard, Colton Shuffield, Makennah Shuffield, Morgan Smith; 15 great grandchildren & 3 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Robert “Bo” Rose (Louise), Don Rose (Karen); 4 sisters: Betty Henager, Lois Ann Carter, Verna Irwin (Hayden), Sue Suggs (Steve); Special nephew, Bubba Shuffield & a host of loved nieces & nephews. Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
