MCT sets call for Neil Simon comedy

Milam Community Theater will hold auditions for its next production, the Neil Simon comedy “I Oughta Be in Pictures,” 7 p.m. Sunday June 8 and Monday June 9 at the Williams Event Center in Cameron.

The script calls for three actors, two women and one man.

The characters include Libby, a headstrong young woman from Brooklyn who impulsively hitchhiked to Hollywood to visit her long-estranged screenwriter father, Herb. Herb is a cynical, unemployed screenwriter with commitment issues. He is in an on again, off again relationship with Steffy, a make-up artist who wants more of a commitment but knows Herb can’t give that to her.

MCT veteran Richard Stone will direct.

Rehearsals will begin June 15, and the show will be on stage Aug. 1-3.
