POLICE BEAT: Leash law helps keep pets safe

POLICE BEAT

Many residents in the Cameron area are pet owners. Unfortunately, animal control picks up many of these pets due to them running loose through neighborhoods and getting lost. Most are usually reunited with their owners which is a good thing for everyone.

Cameron City Ordinance Sec. 2.01.006 (a) requires animals outside of the home or fenced yard to be on a leash or otherwise under the immediate control of a person physically capable of restraining the animal. This ordinance was put in place to keep neighborhoods safe and our pets from becoming lost, hurt, or even possibly stolen.

Violators of the Leash Law are subject to fines and/or pet impoundment.
