Thorndale Ex-Students Newsletter

My next newsletter will go to the Champion on Labor Day, September 1. So, I’ll wish you a Happy Labor Day now. Labor Day is a federal holiday observed annually on the first Monday of September. Originally, it was a day organized to celebrate various labor associations and their contributions to the United States economy and presently it is a day that gives workers a day of rest and celebrates their contributions to the American economy. It’s also the unofficial end of summer.

Thorndale Ex-Students Newsletter

A real nice week along with a little more activity this week in our organization. I’ve been busy putting labels on our Homecoming invitations. I’m up to 2022 so almost through and ready for our “Stamp” night on September 3, 2025. We don’t have many after 2022 because the school can’t send them to us anymore. But, we have quite a few on our teachers list. For some reason the students that graduate who automatically become members of our organization don’t want to send us their mailing addresses. It’s still not too late to send us your mailing address or if you have changed address, please let us know as soon as possible.

Thorndale Council Approves Raises for City Employees

Thorndale City Council met Wednesday, Aug. 13, and approved a series of measures affecting utilities, employees and the city’s upcoming fiscal year, while also making a key administrative hire. Council members approved a resolution to join the Steering Committee of Cities served by ONCOR and awarded a new garbage and recycling services contract to Waste Connections. The interim city administrator was also authorized to solicit bids for bleacher covers over the city’s ball fields.
