Yoemen fall to Malakoff in Game 1 of Regional Finals

The Cameron Yoemen struggled to get their offense going on Thursday night it Game 1 of the Regional Finals getting easily dispatched by Malakoff, 7-0.

The game kicked off at 9:30 p.m. thanks to a rain delay.

One bright spot for the Yoemen was a single by Bobby Borgas in the fifth inning.

Benhardt earned the victory on the mound for Malakoff. The bulldog lasted seven innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out nine.

Brannon McCall took the loss for Cameron. The righty surrendered five runs on four hits over six innings, striking out four.

Malakoff socked three home runs on the day. Gaddis went deep in the fourth inning. Nations put one out in the seventh inning. Waldo went for the long ball in the sixth inning.

Borgas, Adam Cardona, and Ryan Host each collected one hit to lead the Yoemen.

They will continue the series with Game 2 tonight at 7 p.m. at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. Game 3 will be played Saturday at 2 p.m. if needed.
