Tennis competes at Normangee

The Yoe Varsity Tennis Team competed in the Normangee Panther Invitational Tennis Tournament on Feb. 15.

Marino Cardona finished first in Boys Singles.  He got a first round bye, defeated Richard Ross of Normangee 8-0 in the second round.  Marino defeated Ben Lina of Lorena 8-3 in the semi-finals and then moved to to face James Webb of Lorena in the finals.  Cardona defeated Webb 9-7 to win first place Boys Singles.The team of Jaxon Villalon and Alejandro Silva claimed the Silver Medal with their second place finish in the Boys Doubles bracket.  Villalon and Silva got a first round bye, then defeated the team of Webster and McReynolds from Brazos Christian 8-5 in the second round.  In the semi-finals Silva/Villalon defeated the team of Lyons/Flynn 7-5 to move to the finals, where they eventually fell to the team of Burtin/Burtin from Brazos Christian 6-4.

Camryn Green and Macie Vaculin won third place in the Girls Doubles division.   They got a first round bye, then defeated the team of Hartis/Schulte of Brazos Christian 8-5 in the second round.  Green and Vaculin lost to the team of Kniffen and Flores of Lorena in the semi-finals 8-3.  They then moved to the third place match where they defeated the team of Griffin and Neagle of Brazos Christian to claim the Third Place Medal.

Aubree Brashear went 2-2 to finish as the runner up in the Consolation Bracket. Xavier Muniz went 1-1 in the Boys Singles division. Jasdan Llanas went 1-1 in the Girls Singles division, and the team of Jacqueline McKinney and Ty Reyes went 2-1 in the Mixed Doubles division to claim the Consolation Championship.  The team of Ariana Salazar and Savannah Dorner competed in the Girls Doubles division.
