Lady Yoe win one, drop one

Dig Pink set for Oct. 13

The Lady Yoe bested Somerville in three games Friday night, but fell to Rockdale in their district opener on Tuesday night.

The ladies opened their district slate Tuesday against archrival Rockdale, but suffered a heartbreaking loss in five sets. 

The Lady Yoe won the opening two sets 25-22 and 25-23 before falling 25-22, 31-29, 16-14 in the final three sets.

The loss came despite huge nights from Ja’Kerra Holt and Haley Tucker. 

Holt picked up 17 kills and 20 digs. Tucker had 19 assists, five blocks, and three aces. 

The JV A team won 25-11 and 26-24. The JV B team lost 25-10 and 25-17. 

The Lady Yoe swept Somerville in three games on Friday night.

The won 25-16, 25-19, and 25-17. 

Tucker lead the team with 20 attacks. Leading in digs was Holt with 13. Holt also led the ladies in sets. 

The JV A team also took home a win 25-2, 25-10 over Somerville.

The ladies return to play on Friday night in Rogers and will face Academy next Tuesday.

The Lady Yoe Volleyball Program’s 11th Annual Dig Pink Breast Cancer Fundraiser is underway. T-shirts are now on sale through Sept. 17 from any volleyball player/coach, or at the YHS kiosk. As always, shirts are $15, pre-order, pre-pay, cash only.  

This year’s Main Event will be at Yoe Gym on Oct. 13 when our Lady Yoe face off against Troy, so mark your calendars. The group will continue to have all of the traditional events, including the silent auction and raffle.
