The Lady Yoe volleyball team ended their season on Tuesday night against the McGregor Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Yoe were swept by McGregor 3-0.

The first point of the first set went to Cameron, then McGregor responded with four straight points to go ahead 4-1. The Lady Yoe tried to stay in the set with a big block by Kasara Brooks (5) for a 7-3 deficit. They would close the gap with a kill by Crystal Daniels (7) to make the score 10-7, then McGregor answered with a 5-2 run to take a 15-9 lead. Cameron broke the drought with a kill from Kennedy Banks (11) to make the score 17-10.

Cameron fell behind and trailed 22-13, but stopped McGregor’s scoring run with a combined block from Daniels and Brooks to trail 22-14. The Lady Bulldogs finished strong and defeated Cameron in the first set 25-14.

Cameron started the second set slowly as the first four points went to McGregor. The Lady Yoe marched back and shortened the deficit to 5-4 with an ace from Aniyah Ramirez (10). Cameron stayed alive with a kill by Brooks to make it an 8-5 deficit, then McGregor expanded their lead on a 5-1 run, making the score 13-6.

The Lady Yoe tried to start a rally with an impressive block by Cheyenne White (9) to make the score 14-9, and continued their rally to make the score 14-12. McGregor answered with a 4-1 spurt to go ahead 18-13, but that spurt was halted with a kill by Banks to make the score a 18-14 deficit. McGregor continued to overpower Cameron and took a 21-15 lead, and finished strong to defeat Cameron in the second set 25-19.

The first two points of the third set were scored by McGregor. The Lady Bulldogs stayed hot to take a 7-1 lead, then increased their lead over Cameron to 10-3. The Lady Yoe continued to fight with a kill by Daniels to make it an 11-5 deficit. Cameron began to close the gap with an ace from Aubree Brashear (1) to make the score 13-8. McGregor expanded their lead to 17-10 with help of a 4-2 run.

The Lady Yoe halted their spurt with an ace by Allie Henson (3), making the score 17-11, and continued to rally back and made the score 17-16. McGregor pulled away with a 5-2 run to lead 22-18. Cameron responded with a run of their own and scored on a kill by Daniels to tighten the score to 24-21, then marched back and tied the set at 24 on another big kill by Daniels.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough and Cameron would lose the third set 27-25 in a heartbreaker to fall 3-0.

With this loss, Cameron brings their season to an end and will move into their offseason.
