Junior Olympics

Yoe High School Senior Yierra Flemings captured the Heptathlon in dominating fashion last week at the AAU Junior Olympics and was named as the MVP of the day. In the end, Yierra posted a total of 5,088 points, which is the USA #7 performance and had the potential to post a top 3 performance if pushed. Yierra was the top individual in 4 of 7 events (100mH, 200m, long jump, 800m). She tied for 2nd in high jump, 6th in javelin, and in the top third in shot put. She also had 4 personal bests. Congratulations to Yierra Flemings on another National Championship. She ended up earning a Bronze Medal for her 3rd Place finish in the 400 M Hurdles (1:00.62). This is her second All-American finish in the current AAU Junior Olympics this week. There was another Cameron Yoemen earning All-American status on the track. Damon Flemings secured a Bronze Medal with his third-place finish in the Steeplechase. The weather conditions were not the best but he pushed through with stiff competition as the national record was broken in this race. Congratulations Damon and Yierra on all their success on the track.
