Cameron boys top Yoe Invitational

The Yoe Cross Country team came out victorious on Saturday at the 40th Cameron Yoe Invitational. With over 600 competitors from 39 schools the event was a great success.

The Yoe boy’s team competed against 14 other schools and finished in first place with a combined total of 45 points. 

Damon Flemings was the first runner for Cameron to cross the finish line, coming in third place with a time of 16:43. Right behind him was Brady Havens, finishing in fourth with a time of 16:45. Finishing next was Joshua Jochec in sixth with a time of 17 minutes even. Brock Wright was next, finishing in 17th with a time of 17:52. Zachary Frausto was next, finishing in 22nd with a time of 18:18. Ricardo Reyes finished 24th with a time of 18:25. The last to finish for Cameron was Cesar Munoz, finishing 50th with a time of 20:08.

Aggieland Home was in second place for the boys with 65 points and Riesel came in third place with 78 points. Troy’s Carlos Cortez took first place, while Aggieland Home’s John Wesley Ely took second place.

The girl’s team only had four runners so they could not accumulate a total team score. Yierra Flemings was the first runner to cross the finish line, finishing first with a time of 12:20. Next was Brittani Drake, finishing in third with a time of 12:32. Seally Smith finished tenth with a time of 13:02. The last to finish for Cameron was Kinzie Williford, finishing 43rd with a time of 15:02. 

Rogers took first place team for the girls with 28 points. Lorena was in second place with 55 points. Troy was in third place with 97 points. Aggieland Home’s Katherine Keller took second place in the meet.

Cameron’s next meet will be on Oct. 1 in the Troy Trojan Invitational.
