Lady Dogs clinch playoff spot with win over Milano

The Thorndale Lady Dogs (11-8, 10-3) clinched a spot in the state playoffs on Tuesday night with a win over District 25-2A opponent Milano.

Thorndale needed to win two of its last three games to get to the postseason and did just that.  The Lady Dogs will finish up their league scheduled at home against Granger on Saturday afternoon.

On the road in Milano, Thorndale came away with the sweep at 25-23, 25-22 and 25-11.

Kyndal Robinson crushed 10 kills, 11 digs, five assists and an ace in the win.  Natalie Newton put down eight kills and a block, with Emily Reeves adding six kills and three blocks.  Abby Dickerson put up 15 assists two digs and an ace.  Ashley Pesl pulled out 12 digs and Landri Martinka had 10 digs and five aces.

Tristyn Buchanan recorded four kills and three blocks, while Kinley Meadors put down three blocks.  Saryn Peel set up six assists, two digs and an ace.  Kassidy Eubanks put up two digs and a block, with Makayla Lafferty, Cadence Weilder and Raeghan Carlson adding a dig apiece.

On Friday night, Thorndale swept Rosebud-Lott at Bulldog Gym 25-15, 25-13 and 25-20.

Robinson smashed 13 kills, eight digs, an ace and a dig against the Lady Cougars, while Newton put down five kills and a block.  Martinka pulled out 19 digs, four aces and two assists, with Dickerson putting up 13 assists, four digs, two kills and an ace.  Pesl served up four aces, four assist and seven digs.

Reeves recorded three kills and a block and Buchanan had four blocks, two kills and two digs.  Peel put up eight digs and three assists, with Eubanks adding three blocks, an assists and a dig.

Meadors put down two kills, two blocks and a dig, while Carlson recorded two kills and a dig. Lafferty collected two digs, with Weilder and Natalie Garcia adding a dig apiece.
