Bulldogs get win over Rosebud-Lott Cougars

On Friday the Thorndale Bulldogs football team defeated the Rosebud-Lott Cougars 23-7. 

The lone score of the first quarter would be a safety late in the quarter as Maddox Rubio (58) tackled the Cougar quarterback in the endzone for a safety, which gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. The Bulldogs found their way back in the endzone on a 3-yard touchdown run by Stryker Leschber (28) to increase the lead to 9-0. Later in the second quarter, (24) Aiden McRae would score on a 7-yard touchdown run for a 16-0 Bulldog lead. 

Thorndale piled in on in the third quarter with a 23-yard touchdown run from Leschber for his second touchdown run of the day and increased the lead to 23-0. Rosebud-Lott avoided a shutout in the last minute of the third quarter with a 26-yard touchdown pass to make the score 23-7, which also be the final score to give Thorndale the victory. With this win, the Bulldogs have an overall record of 6-1 and a district record of 3-0.

Coy Stutts (4) passed for 78 yards and also ran for 85 yards as well. Aiden McRae rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown, Stryker Leschber ran for 49 yards and two touchdowns, and Chance Betak (7) had 55 receiving yards. The defense was once again phenomenal as they held the Cougars to just 64 rushing yards, 69 passing yards, forced a fumble along with an interception, had a safety, and allowed just seven points. 

Up next for the Bulldogs will be a home game against the Bruceville-Eddy Eagles. The game is tomorrow and kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
