Thorndale VFD BBQ Cookoff planned next weekend

Next weekend the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting the 32nd annual BBQ Cookoff June 23-25 at Thorndale City Park. 

The schedule includes: Friday through Sunday – softball tournament – city park ball fields. 

On Friday, June 23, BBQ teams set up and check in; firework show 9:30 p.m. and a dance featuring “Hayden McBride” opening for Carson Jeffrey at the city park pavilion from 8:30 a.m. to midnight. Admission $15 at the gate. 

On Saturday, June 24, the BBQ competition will be underway after the cooks meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the VFW Memorial Hall. Arts and crafts booths and food concessions will open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park pavilion.

A “42” Domino tournament in the Firemans Hall – registration 10-11 a.m.. It begins at 11 a.m.

Thorndale Firemen Ladies Auxiliary will be serving up their famous turkey and dressing dinner which will also be inside the Firemans Hall beginning at 11 a.m.  Plates will be sold for $12 each with desserts available for free will offering. The washer pitching tournament begins at noon, with registration from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

BBQ winners will be announced at 5 p.m. underneath the pavilion. There will be another firework show at 10 p.m. on Saturday plus a dance from 8 p.m. to midnight with live music provided by Crossroads band. 

Admission is $10.

On Sunday, June 25, are the final rounds of the softball tournament.
