Stephen Michael “Steve” Simecek

Stephen Michael “Steve” Simecek, 62, of Cameron died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, in a Houston hospital. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Father Tom Chamberlin will be officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Monica’s Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday with a visitation immediately following at the funeral home.

Mr. Simecek, a retired heavy equipment operator for Texas Department of Transportation, was born Jan. 10, 1957, in Cameron to Albyn and Alma Marie (Michalka) Simecek. He was a graduate of C.H. Yoe High School. He married Mona Kay McGary.

He was preceded in death by his father and daughter, Nicole Harris. 

He is survived by: wife, Mona Simecek of Cameron; son, “T.J.” Timothy Patterson of Cameron; daughters, Natisha Longoria and husband Charles of Port Lavaca, and Amanda Smith of Cameron; mother, Alma Marie Simecek; sisters, Carolyn Talafuse and husband Gary of Buckholts, Debbie Kruse and  husband Bill of Cameron, and Cindy Hollas and husband Leon of Cameron; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
