Raymond T. Ortiz

Raymond T. Ortiz, 69, of Cameron, died Friday, June 19, 2020, in a Temple assisted living center. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 22, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Fr. Dimitrij Colankin officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Monica’s Catholic Cemetery. 

Visitation was held from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with a rosary being recited at 4 pm.

Mr. Ortiz was born Aug. 26, 1950, in Cameron to John and Sapopa Ortiz. 

He worked in the water treatment department for the City of Cameron for many years. He married Bethel Herrera and she preceded him in death in 2012. He was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church. 

He is survived by: sons, John Ortiz of Temple and Raymond Ortiz Jr. of San Antonio; step-daughter, Rosa Ruelas of Rockdale; brothers, Jesse Ortiz of Branchville and Dino Ortiz of Red Oak; sisters, Helen Bullock of Hearne and Nancy Ortega of Calvert; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
