Pauline Theresa (Hubnik) Pease

Pauline Theresa (Hubnik) Pease, 80, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2022, at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center with family members by her side. She will always be remembered for many things, including the love for her family, her amazing cooking and baking, the butterfly garden she tended with such care, and how much she loved to decorate for the holidays.

Pauline is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joseph Wayne Pease of Red Rock; her children, Janet Baccus and husband Michael Baccus of Pearland, Cheryl Beck and husband Timothy Beck of Red Rock, David Pease and partner Julio Zamarripa of Red Rock; and grandchildren, Lauryn Keesee and husband A.J. Keesee of Conroe, Taylor Baccus and Brooke Baccus both of Pearland. She is also survived by three sisters, Emily Dohnalik of Rogers, Cecilia Marak of Cameron, and Frances Henry of Austin.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Philip Hubnik of Cameron; sister, Dorothy Vansa of Rogers; and brother, Philip Hubnik of Austin.

Pauline was born to Frances and Philip Hubnik on December 22, 1941, in Cameron, the fifth of six children. She was a very proud 1959 graduate of Cameron’s Yoe High School, where she excelled in mathematics and served on the cheer leading squad. Pauline moved to Austin after high school where she worked for Southwestern Bell. After the family moved to Red Rock, she worked for Bastrop County Juvenile Services in Bastrop, finally retiring from there.

Celebrations of Pauline’s life will be held over the coming weeks, some of which will no doubt be set on the deck overlooking her butterfly garden, where guests are welcomed “to the porch where wasting time is considered time well wasted!” Pauline gave to many charities so the family invites those who wish to donate to a charity of their choice in memory of her.

A final handwritten wish from Pauline was discovered after death among her papers that her family would like to share: Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I will remember you. If you only remember with tears, then don’t remember me at all!
