Pastor Dudley Marx

Pastor Dudley Marx, 71, went to his heavenly home with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020.

He was born May 21, 1949, in Austin, to Clifford Otis “Doc” and Sally “Johnson” Marx in Austin. In 1985 he married the love of his life, Deborah Kay “Perrin.” They had 35 wonderful years together. After graduating from Round Rock High School, he earned his Bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State in San Marcos.

In 1983, the Lord convicted him to become a preacher. For six years he drove back and forth one day a week to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in San Antonio and Fort Worth, Texas. In 1989, he graduated with his Master of Divinity. In 1992, the Lord led him to Memorial Baptist Church in Taylor Texas. He faithfully served there as their pastor for 28 years. In his teen years, he worked for his Uncle Buck in the rock business. Prior to his calling, he was an insurance agent for Foresters. Realizing this was not his life calling, he worked for his brother-in-law and then his brother in the well business. Discovering his life calling while serving the Lord, he became the pastor of Memorial Baptist Church. He also owned and operated Promise Land Learning Center, a Christian daycare in Hutto.

The Lord was most important to him, but the second most important was family. He loved working on his land, riding his horses with the grandkids, and telling people about the Lord.

Dudley was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Sally Marx.

Dudley is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Deborah Kay “Perrin” Marx; two children, Christie and husband Eric Tracey of Thorndale, and David and wife Susan Marx of Round Rock; two step-sons, Bobby Wayne and wife Mary Jones of Taylor, and Joe Jones of Thorndale; 10 grandchildren, Hope, Faith, and Grace Tracey, Emily, Charlie, Adelyn, and Lyla Marx, Bobby, Rebecca, and Logan Jones; four great-grandkids; two sisters, Sue Boyd and Linda Walther; two brothers, Mike Marx and Alan Robinson; numerous nieces and nephews; and all his fellow Christians friends and church family at Memorial Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Jones, Rebecca Jones, Hope Tracey, Faith Tracey, Logan Jones, Grace Tracey, Emily Marx, Charlie Marx, Adelyn Marx, and Lyla Marx.

As services will remain private for family, please contact Memorial Baptist Church for service information.

Memorial contributions can be made to Memorial Baptist Church for the Buckner International Mission Work. P.O. Box 90 Taylor, Texas 76574.
