Nicholas (Nick) Jasper Roberts

Nicholas (Nick) Jasper Roberts, 88, passed away Feb. 18, 2022, at home in Cameron, surrounded by his family. 

Nick was born Oct. 5, 1933, in Worthington, Minn., to Kenneth William and Jeane E. Muilenburg Roberts. Nick was definitely one of a kind. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He enjoyed working with his baseball card collection, going to Colorado Rockies baseball games and his retirement career as a gentleman rancher. He was devoted, gentle, kind, faithful and loyal. He was a true man of God. 

Nick was very active in his professional and personal life. He worked with the San Quentin Prison Ministry and at times served as an Elder or Deacon in congregations where he worshiped. He was a member of the Nuclear Materials Management Association and the Marlow Water Supply Corporation. Recently he received notification from the University of California that his Masters thesis, “Aerosol Trace Element Analysis Using Neutron Activation and X-Ray Fluorescence” was released to their online repository.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Bettie Lee Essex Roberts; his parents, Kenneth and Jeane E. Roberts; brothers, Richard (Dick) Roberts, Kenneth Roberts Jr., Halvor Roberts; and sister, Jeri Roberts Voss.

Nick is survived by his four daughters, Pam (David) Scarborough, Karen Sparks, Nickie (James) Payne, and DeeDee Roberts; seven grandchildren, Ashley Scarborough, Brandon (Stacy) Scarborough, Jason (Amber) Sparks, Royce (Casey) Dansby-Sparks, Kayla (Osvaldo) Canario, Bradley Payne, Haylee (Rhett) Bell; 12 great-grandchildren, Kyle and Clara Scarborough, Kelsey, Jada, and Brady Sparks, Brewer and Grant Dansby-Sparks, Naomi and Mila Canario, Briggs Payne, Rylee and Kynlee Bell; one great-great-grandson, Dempsey Diamond; brother, David (Sheryl) Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with burial in Burnet that afternoon. Visitation will be before the services at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
