Lisa Sue Hammond

Lisa Sue Hammond, age 59, gained her wings Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020.

She was born Oct. 13, 1961, in Beaumont, and resided in Rockdale, and surrounding areas for most of her life.

Lisa was proceeded in death by her father, Robert Trotter; mother, Ruby Trotter; husband, Robert Hammond; and daughter, Brandie Mireles.

When it comes to talking about Lisa, you can’t help to remember she loved to cook. She worked at Chuck’s BBQ for many years. Every evening, she would cook meals for any and everyone that was hanging around her house. She also participated in the Lexington cook-off, where she won multiple awards. Other passions of Lisa’s were decorating, crafting, and shopping. She loved to help rearrange and decorate peoples’ homes, plan weddings, and tinker with any object to make it become a beautiful piece of art! Lisa could go shopping all day long, and the one thing she could not pass up on was a nice new pair of pajamas and anything sparkly. The one thing she loved more than any of those things was being a Mom and a Nana.

Lisa is survived by her sisters, Suzanne Matula and Patricia Lodowski; son, Robert and wife Kayla Yakesch, and children, Robert Jr. and Brooklyn; daughter, Chelsye Hammond; daughter, Christie Criner and children, Riley and Rolando Fernandez; stepson, TJ Hall and wife Veda Hall, and children Archer and Amitiel; son, Dalton Hammond and daughter Sterling; nieces, Lanie Matula and daughters Layla and Rezz Matula-Rees, and Lindsey Matula; nephew, Laddie Matula; grandchildren, Alyssa Martinez and husband Antonio, and daughter Hazel, Cameron and Mia Mireles, and Lilly and Payton Matula. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to John Pat Yakesch, Toni, Randy, Heath, Cortni, and Jessica Norton, Sybil Criner, the community of Milano, and Central Church of Christ in Cameron.

The funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, at Phillips and Luckey Funeral home in Rockdale serviced by Chad Lagrone. Burial followed at the Lexington Cemetery.

Randy Norton, Heath Norton, Antonio Martinez, TJ Hall, Aaron Garland, and Lonnie Belview will serve as pallbearers.
