James Michael “Jim” Troxel

Pastor James Michael “Jim” Troxel, 78, of Cameron died Friday, April 12, 2019, in a Cameron nursing and rehab center. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.  Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, April 15, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pastor Troxel was born on March 6, 1941, in Hot Springs, Ark., to James Hershall and Willie Mae (Montgomery) Troxel. He married Karen Fouts in 1960 and began his ministry in the late 1970’s and early 80’s.  He was currently the pastor at Battetown Baptist Church in Cameron. 

He is survived by: his wife, Karen Troxel of Cameron; son, Michael Troxel of San Antonio; daughter, Michelle Lynne Troxel of Everett, Wash.; brothers, Timothy Troxel of Arkansas, Dan Troxel of Arkansas, and David Troxel of Arizona; and three grandchildren.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
