James Gage

Visitation for James Gage, 85 of Humble, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, from 1-3 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Graveside service will immediately follow at Pleasant Retreat Cemetery near Thorndale.

Pallbearers are Corey Taylor, Joey Gage, Stephen Gage, Kevin Gage, Scott Rankin, Howard Raschke, Jeremy Raschke, and Craig Raschke.

James Milton Gage, known by his loved ones and friends as “Jimmy or Jim,” went to his heavenly home on Dec. 30, 2021, in Humble. Jimmy was born in Taylor on May 15, 1936, the fourth of ten children to be born to Tommie Windell Gage and Artie Mitcha (Beard) Gage.

Jimmy graduated from Thorndale High School on May 19, 1955, and then moved to Houston where he later met his beautiful bride, Louise. He worked long and hard to provide for his family and began his lifelong career as a machinist and was one of the best around. His work began at John L Dore Co., then went to PIMCO and then retired from Blue Chip Machine after many years at the age of 76. He was a storyteller and a man of many jokes who loved to make people laugh. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time with family.

Jimmy endured much the past five years but kept holding onto life as long as he could. The light is a lot brighter in heaven, but a lot dimmer in our world.

Jimmy is survived by his wife and the love of his life of 67 years, Louise Gage; his daughters, Donna Taylor and husband Marvin of Humble, and Glenda Raschke and husband Howard of Spring; five grandchildren, Heather Elkin and husband Jeff, Corey Taylor and wife Allison, Jeremy Raschke and wife Brandi, Shawn Raschke and wife Skye, and Craig Raschke and Rhonda; six great-grandchildren, Megan Calfee, Landon and Hudson Taylor, Orion and Haley Raschke, and Mae Raschke; and two great-great-grandchildren, Easton Vincent and Samantha Raschke.

Also survived by four brothers, Eddie Gage and wife Mary, Vernon Gage and wife Barbara, Roger Gage, and Robin Gage and wife Annette; and his  sister, Lynda Rankin and husband Jim; and many loved nieces and nephews.
