James Edward Shafer

James Edward Shafer, 74, of Gause, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022, at a Bryan hospital. 

Graveside services were held Thursday, July 14, at the Gause Cemetery, with Nick Burns officiating. Visitation with the family was held Wednesday, July 13, from 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home.

James was born Jan. 26, 1948, in Cameron, to William and Ruth (Perkins) Shafer. He was married to Delores Shafer. She preceded him in death in 2002. James was a heavy equipment operator in the oil industry. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his sons, Warren Collins, Eugene Collins and Raymond Collins (Shirley), all of Gause; and sister, Jo Ann Tabor of Killeen. Also surviving are eight grandchildren.
