Franklin Delano (F.D.) Glenn

Franklin Delano (F.D.) Glenn, 83, resident of Taylor, passed away on Aug. 9 in his home surrounded by family.

F.D. was born March 29, 1937, in Gastonia, N.C. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was eventually stationed in Austin. There, this soldier, met and married his favorite wife, Carol Rodenbeck for over 59 years. After leaving the Army, F.D. remained in Austin working for the City of Austin and then Corpus Christi until he retired in 2000 when he made his home in Taylor.

F.D. is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Connie Parks and husband Michael of Corpus Christi; and son, Michael Glenn and his wife Ann of Thorndale. F.D. was also blessed with four grandchildren, Ross Parks, Jennifer Parks Strowmatt, Dr. Courtney Glenn MD and John Glenn; two great-grandchildren, Tesslynn Dee Strowmatt and Hailey Faith Parks; along with a brother-in-law and sisters-in-law that might as well been blood relatives along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

F. D. is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Evelyn Glenn; brothers, John Glenn and Max Glenn; and his sister, Mary Glenn Faile.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2020, at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor. A Celebration of his Life and a celebration for all that God did through F.D.’s life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Taylor, with burial in the St. John’s Cemetery in Detmold.
