Elmore Lincoln

Elmore Lincoln, a lifelong resident of Thorndale, passed away Friday morning, Feb. 21, 2020, in the Cedar Park Regional Medical Center in Cedar Park at the age of 80.

He was born Aug. 4, 1939, in the Salty Community to Hugh Anthony and Willie Ollie (Byrd) Lincoln. On Sept. 4, 1964, he and Sarah Grace Gary were married in St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale. Elmore worked at Alcoa for 39 and a half years and retired in Jan. 1, 2000, from the Environmental Control Department.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale. He supported and was involved in Thorndale as a former Thorndale City Councilman and served as Mayor Pro Tem and was an honorary member of Thorndale Volunteer Fire Department. Elmore was a daily member of the Thorndale Cefco Coffee Group. He loved to garden and enjoyed doing yard work and roller-skating.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Willie Ollie Lincoln; three brothers, Ernest Ray, Billy Earl and Hugh Ronnie Lincoln; brother-in-law, Gordon Zercher; and sister-in-law, Madge Lincoln.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Sarah Lincoln of Thorndale; their children, Travis Ray Lincoln of Thorndale, Kevin Reed Lincoln of Thrall, and Lorri Renay Lincoln Smith and husband Andy of Lexington; brother, Bobby Lincoln of Liberty Hill; sisters, Janie Pearl Lincoln Zercher of San Antonio, Shirley Faye Lincoln Bernard of Austin, and Verlie Sue Lincoln McAferty and husband Fred of Georgetown; sister-in-law, Shirley Blount; six grandchildren, Korey Reed Lincoln, Logan McKenna Lincoln, Tanner Lane Smith, Julia Smith and Kayla Smith; three great-grandchildren, Ayla Hardin, Aislyn Hill, and Lexi Lincoln; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Aaron Kalbas of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Burial is in the Thorndale City Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Rockdale.
