Doris Mae (Niemtschk) Kiesling

Doris Mae (Niemtschk) Kiesling passed away on Nov. 11, 2020, at Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital surrounded by her five children. 

Doris was born on July 2, 1930, to Meta and Otto Niemtschk at the family farm southeast of Thorndale. She was baptized, confirmed and a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale. On Oct. 14, 1948, she married Delma “Sloppy” Kiesling at her parents’ farm. Their union lasted 61 years until his death in 2009. 

Doris was a great Mom, a loving grandmother and a very proud great-grandmother. Doris and Sloppy made a great fishing pair. She enjoyed playing cards and dominoes and occasional trips to Shreveport. 

Doris was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Justin, Erwin and Eldon Niemtschk; and sister, Beate Lehman.

She is survived by son Preston (Linda) Kiesling; daughter, Darnell (Dennis) Leschber; son, Keith (Sharen) Kiesling; son, Allen (Sandra) Kiesling; and son, Kevin (Carrie) Kiesling; sisters, Elyne Lehmann and Irene Schroeder; brother, Eugene (Erma) Niemtschk; sister-in-law, Julia Niemtschk; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren and another due in January 2021. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. 

Grandchildren are Clay (Shauna) Kiesling, Troy (Susan) Kiesling, Brian (Samantha) Leschber, Kevin (Christy) Kiesling, Angela (Heath) Scruggs, Jeffrey (Kerrie) Kiesling, Kyle (Katya) Kiesling, Jennifer (Ryan) Annoot, Lukas (Karen) Kiesling, Jacob (Aaron Diane) Harbin, Jacob (Petra) Kiesling, Chase (Jordan) Kiesling and Ashton Kiesling. 

Great-grandchildren are Logan, Sammy, Knox, Kinley, Adalyn, Caroline, Blake, Bennett, Kamryn, Autumn, Braydon, Brooks, Beckam, Braylee, Tiffany, George, Kadence, Jace, Hadley, Athena, Ares and Kaylee. 

Visitation was held Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale with Pastor Aaron Kalbas officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. 

Serving as pallbearers will be David Kiesling, Dennis Schroeder, Ronnie Lehmann, Russell Niemtschk, David Lehmann, Stephen Niemtschk and Brandon “Bubba” Grimm.
