Benjamin “Franklin” Stewart Jr.

Benjamin “Franklin” Stewart Jr., 86, of Cameron, died Thursday, April 7, 2022, in a Temple hospital.  

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2022, at the Oak Hill Pavilion in Cameron. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Mr. Stewart, a retired electrical engineer, was born Dec. 3, 1935, in Cameron to Benjamin Franklin Stewart Sr. and Kathleen (Hargrove) Stewart. After graduating from Yoe High School in 1953, he attended Texas Tech University where he majored in electrical engineering. Upon earning his bachelors degree, he enlisted in the United States Army and served as a 1st Lieutenant in the 304th Signal Battalion in Korea. After raising two sons, he retired back in Cameron where he was an active member of the Cameron chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Stewart was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cameron.

He is survived by: two sons, Benjamin Franklin Stewart III and Patrick Stewart; and three grandchildren, Benjamin Franklin Stewart IV, Jacob “Jake” Stewart and Luke Stewart.
