Lady Dogs fall to Thrall, set to host Rosebud-Lott

The Thorndale volleyball team (10-8, 8-3) traveled to No. 5 Thrall on Tuesday, falling to the state ranked Tigerettes in straight sets. The Lady Dogs come up short in the contest 14-25, 16-25 and 23-25.

The Lady Dogs have three games remaining on their district schedule and need to win two of them to clinch a playoff spot.

Thorndale will host Rosebud-Lott on Friday, travel to Milam County neighbor Milano on Tuesday and then finish their district schedule at home against Granger on Oct. 17.

Against Thrall on Tuesday, Kyndal Robinson put down 12 kills, three blocks and three assist for the Lady Dogs.  Kinley Meadors put up eight blocks and a kill and Landri Martinka pulled out 13 digs. Abby Dickerson set up 12 assists and five digs, with Saryn Peel recording six digs and four assists.

Tristyn Buchanan put up four blocks and a kill, while Natalie Newton added three kills, two blocks and a dig. Emily Reeves collected two kills and Ashley Pesl had four digs.  Kassidy Eubanks added a block and a dig.

The Lady Dogs hosted Bartlett on Friday evening and swept the Lassies 25-9, 25-8 and 25-12.

Robinson smashed eight kills, three assists, two aces and two digs, with Martinka serving up seven aces and five digs.  Dickerson put up seven assists and two digs and Pesl added four aces, two digs and an assist.

Buchanan laid down three kills, while Meador collected two kills and two blocks.  Natalie Garcia and Newton each pulled out three digs, with Newton also recording a kill.  Peel added two digs and an assists; Reeves put down a kill and a block; and Eubanks had a kill.

Thorndale played Buckholts on Sept. 30, a day later than originally schedule due to referee availability.

The Lady Dogs took just three games to beat the Lady Badgers, winning 25-10, 25-14 and 25-10.

Emily Reeves pounded down six kills in the win, with Newton adding five kills.  Robinson recorded five kills and also added six aces and six assists.  Dickerson put up 14 assists, two aces, a kill and a dig, while Martinka served up seven aces, two digs and an assist.

Peel recorded four aces and three assists, with Meadors adding two kills and a block.  Buchanan and Pesl collected two kills and an ace apiece.  Garcia served up two aces and two digs; Cadence Weilder and Eubanks each had a kills; and Makayla Lafferty added a dig.
