Steak, Stein and Wine Fest comes to downtown Saturday
Get ready for a great time this weekend in Cameron as the Steak, Stein and Wine Fest comes to downtown Saturday with events for the whole family.
There is a little of everything from the 5K run to steak tasting and a concert from Grammy award-winner Rick Trevino.
The Steak, Stein, and Wine Run will kick off a day of activities at 8:45 a.m. at the Oak Hill Cemetery Parking Lot, corner of Fannin and Gillis.
Adults are invited to compete in the Steak, Stein, and Wine 5K Race while youth are encouraged to participate in the 1K Youth Fun Run.
Registration for adults is $25 and includes a t-shirt, steak breakfast taco, and a cold beer after the run. Youth registration is $20 and includes a t-shirt, steak breakfast taco, and a root beer after the run. Medals will be awarded to winners in both divisions.
You may register online or in person the day of the race. All registrants must be at the Oak Hill Cemetery Parking Lot by 8:45 a.m. on Saturday morning.
The Downtown Street Fair will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the historic downtown square.
Beginning at 10 a.m., Cameron’s Historic Downtown Square will be bustling with shopping, activities, and entertainment. Peruse arts and crafts vendors and a farmer’s market on the square and stop into see popular shops near the square.
If you work up an appetite as you explore downtown Cameron, take a break to enjoy bites from many local food vendors.
A wine tent and craft beer tent will be set up on Main Street from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to sample.
Sample wine tastings or order a glass of your favorite blend from local Texas wineries En Gedi Vineyards, Axis Winery, Kissing Tree Vineyards. Glasses and bottles will be available for purchase with cash or credit card.
You can beat the Texas heat with an ice cold brew from local Texas breweries
During this event only, you may carry glasses of wine with you anywhere within the downtown square. No glass containers allowed outside on the square.
There will also be a sports bar set up at 106 S. Houston, the former Mercantile Bistro, to watch your favorite college football game.
The Aggieland Safari will be set up with fun for the little ones from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Main Street.
Bring your little one by to pet many types of exotic animals including kangaroos, mini pigs, mini goats, giant tortoises, baby marmosets, mini horses, snakes, and more. Admission is free.
The Cameron Car Club Show will be at Houston and Main Street.
A Game Zone will be set up on the south courthouse lawn with popular lawn games like Kube, Giant Jenga, Corn Hole, Connect, and many more.
The Milam County Museum will be home to three beautiful exhibits.
Admire the El Camino Real de los Tejas Photo Exhibit featuring photography by Chris Talbot. Appreciate the beauty of over 200 handmade quilts on display in the Antique Quilt Show. Learn about Texas wildflowers at the Master Naturalist Wildflower Exhibit.
Be transported back in time as you get a rare view of Cameron in the 1940s at the Train Museum. Drive model trains around the massive 40-foot realistic model of Cameron. Meet the Junior Engineers and find out how your kid can become a Junior Engineer. While you check out the model of Cameron, enjoy some hand-dipped ice cream.
Steak lovers will be delighted by the Steak Flight Tasting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the downtown square.
Sample various cuts of 44 Farms’ high quality beef. Award winning celebrity chef Jay Tinney of Tinney Barbecue in Austin will prepare the steaks and a member of the 44 Farms team will walk you through the flight, educating you about the different cuts and the best ways to prepare them.
Tickets are $25 and include 12 ounces of meat. Tickets are limited. It is recommended to purchase tickets online before the event.
Local artists will be featured on the Central Street Stage from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Bring your talent to the “open mic” and show us what you’ve got! We will have a drum kit and bass amp on stage.

Bring your little ones to Play Street Kids Zone from 1-4 p.m. on the south and east courthouse lawn. They’ll have a blast playing on inflatables and making new friends. There will also be water toys, weather permitting. Appropriate for ages 10 and under.
Milam County Extension Agent Micah Holcombe will have your tastebuds water as she walks you through a demonstration preparing mouth-watering sauces for your steaks at 1 p.m. at Bea’s Kitchen.
Local singer-songwriter Casey D. “KCD” Stanislaw has a new band and some new tunes on the Central Street Stage from 2-3 p.m. Madstone Band from Temple will perform from 3-5 p.m. Red Watterson and A Good Excuse will perform from 5-7 p.m.
The Steak Dinner will be served at Bea’s Kitchen beginning at 5 p.m. A gourmet steak dinner featuring a 44 Farms ribeye prepared by celebrity chef Josh Bratton of Johnny’s Steaks & BBQ in Salado and sides prepared by local chefs of Dutchtowne Deli and Hot Corner.
Tickets are sold out but you can join in the wine and craft beer tents during the event.
The day will end with a concert featuring Texas country artist Rick Trevino with Gordon Collier Band opening from 7-11:30 p.m. in the Milam County Junior Livestock Show Building at 301 S. Houston.
Gordon Collier Band will open the show at 7 p.m. followed by headliner Rick Trevino.
Rick Trevino is a Grammy award-winning artist with seven studio albums, which charted fourteen singles on the Billboard Hot Country chart.
Wine and beer will be available for purchase at the concert, along with bites from local food trucks.
General admission tickets are $10, available online or at the door. Kids 12 and under are free.
VIP Tickets are $75 and include exclusive front of stage table seating with wait staff and a private dance floor.
