Last week, the Texas Attorney General’s Office released a list of over 130 cities across the state, notifying them that they were prohibited from raising property taxes above the no-new-revenue tax rate. The notification comes as recent state legislation bars cities from raising their property tax rate if they do not meet the state’s financial statement audit and transparency requirements. Among the cities on that list was Cameron.
