Paving work to begin on US 79

On Monday, May 8, weather permitting, the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) contractor will begin paving improvements at the intersection of US 79 and FM 908 in Rockdale.
At times, traffic will be reduced to one lane, so travelers should anticipate delays and seek alternate routes if possible.
This construction is part of the US 79 sidewalk and lighting improvement project awarded to Big Creek Construction for $4.5 million. This project is a partnership between TxDOT and the City of Rockdale and is anticipated to be complete later this Summer. TxDOT and their contractor appreciate everyone’s patience during construction.
