Ninth COVID-19 case in serious condition

One of the nine confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Milam County is in serious condition in the ICU in a Temple hospital.

Milam County Judge Steve Young said Friday morning in a conference call with county business owners that person remains in serious condition.

He said six of the diagnosed cases have recovered and two remain in self-quarantine.

Young said there were three cases reported at the Cameron Dairy Queen and one is the person in ICU and the other two are in self-quarantine. It was announced yesterday that  Dairy Queen is closed until April 29.

Young also said one of those persons is related to an employee of the Cameron Pizza Hut and that relative and another employee of the restaurant have self-quarantined. He said he will have a discussion with the owner of the Pizza Hut today to discuss what actions need to be taken to address this matter.

Young told business owners on the call that all employees who come into contact with the public must wear masks. Young said if he does not get a positive response to this request he will make mask wearing mandatory.

"I can do that in an hour if we need to do it," he said.

Young will address the county in a Facebook Live post at 4:30 this afternoon, April 17. He will also address these topics on KMIL and KRXT at 5 p.m. today.
