Ninth case of COVID-19 identified

Another case of COVID-19 has been identified in Milam County.

According to Milam County Judge Steve Young, a ninth person in the county has tested positive for COVID-19. He said it is a local person that was tested locally. The patient is not hospitalized and is in self-quarantine.

The Milam County Health Department will conduct a contact investigation, and if you have come into contact with this person, you will be contacted by the Health Department.

To this point, three people here have recovered and six are now in self-quarantine. Only one person has been hospitalized and that person is said to have recovered. The Health Department was monitoring 10 people related to the virus.

Young said that of the nine cases, six have recovered and the Health Department is monitoring 15 people who had recent contact with the three active cases.

The Judge will also host a Facebook Live video Friday afternoon at 3 p.m.

Young is expected to meet with area school superintendents to decide about whether or not schools will remain closed for the remainder of the school year on Friday.
