Former Milam County Judge Roger Hashem passes away

Former Milam County Judge Roger Hashem has passed away.

Memorial services for 81-year-old Hashem will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 10, at Double Tree Ranch in Highland Village.

Hashem served as Milam County Judge from 1991-99, leaving office after being defeated by Frank Summers in his bid for a third term.

As County Judge, Hashem was in there at the beginning of the courthouse renovations and the building of the current juvenile justice center. Renovations to the courthouse that have made it a showpiece of downtown Cameron.

Hashem was County Judge when he helped get the ball moving on renovation of the the Milam County Courthouse.

Hashem was also a major help with the Rockdale Juvenile Justice Center, which was later named for him.

Outside of serving the County as Judge, he was a longtime principal and superintendent at Milano ISD.

For more information on Hashem, see Judge Bill Whitmire’s column this week on Page 4.
